2.1 GCIMUN
GCIMUN is a conference that happens every year at the UN Headquarters and Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York from May 12th to 15th. The United Nations Foundation flies in staffers from all over the world to become chairs, logistics staff, conference staff and a whole mess of other fun things.
Last year there were SIX McGill kids staffing the conference. If you’re interested in applying, or know people that are, the application can be found at http://www.unausa.org/secretariat. The application is due on January 10th. The application is taken really seriously, so please take your time with it if you choose to apply, and the process is extremely competitive.
Here’s a few reasons why this is an awesome idea:
-4 days in NYC from anywhere and 5 nights in a 4 star hotel on Lexington Avenue
-You don’t have to write any background guides
-Keep your Model UN skills sharp
-It’s well after finals end
-Work at a conference where the delegates represent nearly half of the countries of the UN and the staff are from all but one continent
If you have any questions, email robert@gcimun.org.
