Organizational Structure
President
The President of IRSAM oversees the management of each portfolio of the organization, ensuring co-operation and transparency between each member of the Board of Directors and the membership. The President chairs each weekly meeting of the Board of Directors, and serves as the liaison between Industry Canada and the Board of Directors. The President also serves as Chief Returning Officer for all general elections held by the organization and Chief Executive Office of IRSAM, Inc.
Financial Affairs
The Vice-President of Financial Affairs heads the finance portfolio of IRSAM, handling all monetary transactions for the organization and its model United Nations conferences, including payments and reimbursements. The VP Finance also works with IRSAM’s auditor and account manager to maintain the organization’s financial integrity and security. The VP Finance also serves as Chief Financial Officer of IRSAM, Inc.
Internal Operations
The Vice-President of Internal Operations leads the internal portfolio of IRSAM, which includes managing the day-to-day operations of the organization, weekly meetings and special events, room booking and equipment rental, the yearbook and end-of-year gala. In addition, the VP Internal serves as the editorial consultant for the McGIll International Review, the undergraduate academic journal of IRSAM. The VP Internal works with a team of co-ordinators for each sub-portfolio and serves as the liaison between them and the Board of Directors.
Delegation Affairs
The Vice-President of Delegation Affairs leads the IRSAM Travelling Model United Nations Team, which attends model UN conferences held by other universities in North America. The VP Delegations also oversees the training sessions each member of the team must attend. In addition, the VP Delegations serves as the liaison between the co-ordinators of the McGill International Relations Simulation (IRSim) held at McGill and the Board of Directors, and all budgetary matters will fall under their portfolio.
External Relations
The Vice-President of External Relations heads the external portfolio of IRSAM, which includes all activities and events held off McGill campus including but not limited to volunteering opportunities in the local community, Junior Peacemakers, Project Aprender and participation at official conference of the United Nations. The VP External serves as the liaison between the co-ordinators of each off-campus activity and the Board of Directors.
Secondary Schools’ United Nations Symposium
The Secretary-General of SSUNS, in addition to leading a conference Secretariat, serves as an ex-officio member of the IRSAM Board of Directors, selected upon a general election held approximately one week after each annual conference has adjourned. Along with working with the other members of the Board of Directors to maintain the mandate and operations of IRSAM, the Secretary-General of SSUNS brings the interests of their conference to each meeting, including budgetary matters and contractual agreements for approval.
McGill Model United Nations Assembly
The Secretary-General of McMUN, in addition to leading a conference Secretariat, serves as an ex-officio member of the IRSAM Board of Directors, selected upon a general election held approximately one weel after each annual conference has adjourned. Along with working with the other members of the Board of Directors to maintain the mandate and operations of IRSAM, the Secretary-General of McMUN brings the interests of their conference to each meeting, including budgetary matters and contractual agreements for approval.
