1.1 SSUNS 2011 Secretariat Applications
SSUNS 2011 is still recruiting members for its Secretariat. If you are interested in international relations, model United Nations, being part of a team comprising incredibly hard working individuals, and putting together one of the premier MUN conferences in the North American high school circuit, you will not want to miss out on this opportunity! The following positions are currently available: Undersecretary-General (Committee Affairs), Undersecretary-General (Finance), Undersecretary-General (Information and Technology), Chief of Operations, Chief of Staff, Director of Public Relations, and Chargé(e) d’Affaires. No previous experience with model United Nations or IRSAM is required. Completed applications should be e-mailed to sg@ssuns.org, or dropped off at the IRSAM Mailbox (# 101) on the fourth floor of Shatner by Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 18:00. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Suryadeep Seal at sg@ssuns.org.
2.1 GCIMUN
GCIMUN is a conference that happens every year at the UN Headquarters and Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York from May 12th to 15th. The United Nations Foundation flies in staffers from all over the world to become chairs, logistics staff, conference staff and a whole mess of other fun things.
Last year there were SIX McGill kids staffing the conference. If you’re interested in applying, or know people that are, the application can be found at http://www.unausa.org/secretariat. The application is due on January 10th. The application is taken really seriously, so please take your time with it if you choose to apply, and the process is extremely competitive.
Here’s a few reasons why this is an awesome idea:
-4 days in NYC from anywhere and 5 nights in a 4 star hotel on Lexington Avenue
-You don’t have to write any background guides
-Keep your Model UN skills sharp
-It’s well after finals end
-Work at a conference where the delegates represent nearly half of the countries of the UN and the staff are from all but one continent
If you have any questions, email robert@gcimun.org.
3.1 G8/G20 Youth Summit 2011 Paris
Recruitment is currently underway for university students from across Canada to represent the nation at the annual G8 & G20 Youth Summit. The upcoming conference will be held in Paris, France from May 29 to June 3, 2011. The application deadline for Canadian delegation positions is 4:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time Monday, January 31st, 2011. Individuals should be sure to submit complete applications by that time (application form, resume and 500-word motivation letter). All of this information, as well as additional details about past conferences and our organization, can also be found on the website: www.g8g20youthsummitcanada.org
