Land Acknowledgement

McGill University, IRSAM, and the McGill Youth Advisory Delegation acknowledge that their presence resides on ancestral land of the Kanien'keha:ka, traditional custodians of the Eastern Door of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. This recognition encompasses confronting the historical and ongoing impact of colonialism in Canada, while actively challenging neo-colonialism within our roles, especially in UN policy engagement. With an awareness of McGill's complex colonial history, we strive to dismantle oppressive structures and uplift marginalized communities. The McGill Youth Advisory Delegation recognizes its privilege, aiming to contribute to positive change and equitable futures by translating awareness into meaningful action.

Who are we ?

Welcome to the McGill Youth Advisory Delegation (MYAD), an empowered youth-focused organization holding special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2006. Our journey revolves around shaping policies that mirror the aspirations and concerns of the world's youth.

OUR MISSION

is to amplify the voices of young individuals worldwide, ensuring their perspectives shape international policy

Our Impact:

Throughout the year, we meticulously research and craft youth-centered policy briefs for esteemed UN Commissions, including the Commission on the Status of Women and Commission on Social Development. These briefs serve as crucial advocacy tools, enabling us to advocate for youth-centric policies on a global scale. As our final initiative for the academic year, MYAD puts together a Youth Policy Report – the product of an entirely youth-led policy development process as well as community consultations, expert consultations, and knowledge sharing with youth-centered organizations. You can read the 2021-2022 report.

Collaborative Approach:

To ensure our advocacy is comprehensive and inclusive, we collaborate closely with local and international NGOs, Permanent Missions, local youth groups, and individuals. This collaborative approach enriches our understanding and empowers us to present a well-rounded perspective in our policy recommendations.

Elevating Youth Voices:

We're dedicated to bridging the gap between young people and policy-making entities. Through vigorous efforts, we bring youth voices to the forefront of international policy discussions. By engaging directly with Permanent Missions and UN Commissions, we actively work to integrate the unique insights and aspirations of young individuals into the fabric of global policies.

Engage with us!

Officer applications are released over the summer and promoted via IRSAM and MYAD. Delegate applications will be available in mid-August until mid-September. We also invite anyone to be involved through our community consultation process. Share your thoughts, attend our events, or actively contribute to our advocacy endeavors. Together, we can forge a path that aligns international policies with the values and dreams of youth across the globe.
